First major Jeep vehicle design change in 20 years. First Jeep vehicle to offer an optional molded plastic top and steel doors. Noted as the best-handling and smoothest riding CJ ever. Replaced the CJ-5 after a 30-year production run. It’s still very popular today. The CJ8 was a stretched CJ7 with a short top and pickup truck bed.
