LIFT-O-MATIC

A hydraulically operated tail gate on the 'Jeep' Pick-up Truck enables one man to load and unload heavy, bulky objects with ease. Delivery costs may thus be reduced up to 50%.

The Lift-O-Matic tail gate has the following features:

POWERFUL - This hydraulically operated elevating tail gate is especially designed for the 'Jeep' Pick-up Truck. 1000 pounds may be lifted from ground level to the floor of the body. The maximum distance of travel is 39 inches.  The Lift-0-Matic may be locked at any height from the ground to facilitate loading and unloading.

EASY TO OPERATE - A single lever at the tail gate controls the unit. There is no P.T.O. to engage in the cab. This lever simply engages the hydraulic clutch pump and opens the valve to provide power. The expansion or contraction of the hydraulic piston mounted horizontally between the pillars at the end of the cargo box causes the tail gate to be raised or lowered by steel cable and pulley arrangements enclosed in each pillar. Also, there is an automatic safety locking mechanism which holds the gate securely at the body floor. When the gate is raised for travel by placing the control lever in neutral position, the slider-posts are automatically locked in position.

EASY TO INSTALL - Special mounting brackets are used on the 'Jeep' Pickup Truck. They are bolted between the H frame constructed tail gate and the cargo box body. Therefore, although the inside width of the cargo box is 48 1/2" , the distance between the tail gate pillars is 54". The two pillars are approximately 3" wide, making the overall width 60". The platform depth is 26" including a 6'' ramp. The whole installation weighs only 303 lbs., which hardly detracts from the Pick-up's capacity.

EASY TO SERVICE - An easily -removed, full-width inspection pan is installed over the hydraulic cylinder compartment, exposing the hydraulic cylinder itself and other moving parts. Two sliders located in the slider housing posts are powered by a cable and pulley. The top end of the slider is fitted with a roller, and the bottom section is equipped with bakelite strips to prevent metal to metal contact and to provide for free and easy movement of the slider within its housing. This design results in a very simple, easy-to-service mechanism which has comparatively few moving parts. The heavy duty cylinder and pistons are equipped with sheaves at both ends. The cable is woven around these sheaves and fastened to the bottom of the slider unit. As the piston moves outward, the cables are shortened, raising the load from the ground to the desired height.

The hydraulic system is powered by the Hydra-Clutch pump, weighing only 18 lbs., which is driven by the fan belt of the Willys engine. The pump, with its own all-metal band clutch is of advanced engineering, high pressure, gear type design. It operates only when hydraulic power is needed.

It produces pressures up to the inbuilt relief valve setting of 600 p.s.i., delivers 2 g.p.m. at 1250 r.p.m. Only one horsepower is required, and this is only used when the Lift-O-Matic is in operation. The balance of the time the pump pulley is idling on a large lift-time ball bearing.

SUMMARY - The Lift-0-Matic permits the handling of bulky, heavy objects with a saving of hours in loading and unloading. Injuries to personnel resulting from manual attempts at unloading and loading are eliminated.

H E L P YOUR CUSTOMERS SAVE TIME AND MONEY. YOU WILL ALWAYS PROFIT BY THIS IN THE END.

DUMP-O-MATIC

DUMP-O-MATIC TWIN CYLINDER HYDRAULIC HOIST

This dump body is especially designed for use with the 'Jeep' Truck.

The pick-up body dump truck is often used by contractors and municipalities for general purpose work because of the ease of unloading materials such as lumber, cod, gravel, dirt and snow. The flat bed model is often used by building contractors, and the stake body model by farmers for carrying produce like corn, firewood and other farm products.

The main sales features are:

VERSATILITY. This dump body multiplies the uses of the normal truck by permitting fast unloading which minimizes waste time and cuts labor cost.

EASY TO INSTALL . This lightweight hoist is easily installed without any alteration to the chassis. The frame is a self-contained unit in its own substructure, absorbing all stress within itself, thus not imposing any on the chassis. It is provided with a full-width, hinge shaft and two body members which add to its rigidity. These body members are attached to the truck frame at eight points. Installation can be made in less than eight hours.

EASY TO SERVICE. In the hoist itself, there are only two moving parts - the two pistons within the cylinders. Hydraulic power is provided by a Hydra-Clutch Pump driven by the engine fa0 belt. The pump which weighs only 18 lbs. is a carefully engineered, precision built, high pressure, gear-type hydraulic unit with its own all-metal band clutch which operates only when hydraulic power is needed. It produces pressures up to 1500 PSI at the inbuilt relief valve and delivers three gallons per min. at 1000 RPM. Only one horsepower is required and this horsepower is needed only when the Dump-O-Matic is in operation. The balance of the time the pump pulley is idling on a large, lifetime ball bearing.

CAB CONTROLLED. This hoist is activated by a single finger -tip control, installed on the dash. All controls usually found in a mechanical lift dump truck are eliminated. A pull of the knob engages the clutch of the pump.  When the hoist has reached its highest point, the knob is released and the load is held in the dumping position by means of an inbuilt check valve. When the load is discharged, pushing the knob forward is all that is necessary to lower the body.

POWER . Although the Dump-0-Matic twin cylinder hydraulic hoist will lift a payload of 6000 lbs., which is greatly in excess of the capacity of the truck, such heavy duty components were incorporated into the unit to speed unloading and to maintain the high, Willys quality standards.

LOW MOUNTING. The mounting of the Dump-0-Matic hoist on the truck does not noticeably change the original loading height and appearance of the vehicle.

The Dump-O-Matic saves hundreds of man hours, permitting the same truck and drives to do more work in the same time.

THE GRAN HYDRAULIC LOADER

The Gran Hydraulic Loader is one of the most unusually versatile adaptations of the 4-R'D 'Jeep'. Here is a single piece of equipment that can:

Lift a ton with its fork lift Raise its one -ton load as high as ten feet Tilt the fork lift attachment four ways Travel at speeds from 2-1/2 m.p.h. to 50 m.p.h.

The Gran Hydraulic Loader was designed to furnish a fork lift that could be used in rugged outdoor use. With the Jeep's selective 2- and 4-wheel drive, the operator can work this lift on rough ground, in snow or mud, or on well traveled highways. It takes a lift anywhere and under any conditions. Previously this type of equipment was confined to smooth factory or warehouse floors or well kept work yards. The Gran Hydraulic Loader has put an end to those limitations.

It takes only one man to operate the Jeep equipped with the loader. The unit is completely hydraulic. Three control levers at the side of the driver control its operation. One lever raises and lowers the carriage. One tilts the tower to the front and rear, and the third tilts the tower from side to side.

Yes, that right. Tilts the tower from side to side. The problem of having the lift perfectly level in order to pick up material like concrete blocks or piled on platforms is completely eliminated. The Gran Hydraulic Loader provides a tilt of 18 degrees front to rear and 5-1/2 degrees side to side. This permits operations on uneven ground with no fork bind or danger of load upset.

Once the fork lift attachment is installed it can be dismounted and remounted in 30 minutes. When not in use the lift can be folded over the top of the Jeep out of the way.  The actual installation requires only the usual mechanics tools and a 1/2" drill.

The lift is powered by a hydraulic pump which in turn is connected to the crankshaft. This means that whenever the motor is running you have power to operate the lift. The Jeep can be in any gear, or standing still, and the lift will still operate.

To help support the load a tandem axle is mounted on the rear of the Jeep. This axle uses two standard 6.00 x 16 Jeep wheels and operates only when the fork lift is loaded. For shipments in the United States the loader kit comes equipped with one metal wheel. Thus the Jeep spare wheel and tire plus a locally purchased tire and tube and the supplied metal wheel complete the tandem assembly. For export shipments the Gran Hydraulic Loader is equipped with two complete spare wheels, assemblies (wheels, tires and tubes).

SPECIAL FEATURES

The loader is equipped with two 1" x 4" steel forks. These are not adjustable as to width spacing. However they are hinged to the carriage and fold flat against it so that the tower can be collapsed instantly.  These forks are 48" in length.

As optional equipment adjustable -width forks are available in lieu of the standard folding type. Units shipped with this option come equipped with three 1-1/2" x 2" steel forks having an adjustment of up to 35 inches between the outside forks. These forks were designed to handle blocks through the cored holes. Fork length - 40".  They must be lifted off the carriage before collapsing the tower.

The loader also features a built-in trailer hitch. And here is one of the biggest selling points of the unit. This enables the Jeep, equipped with the Gran Hydraulic Loader, to load a flat bed trailer , tow it to its destination, park it, unload it, and either return towing the trailer, or detach the trailer and let the operator drive the Jeep with the ease and convenience of a passenger car. No other Fork Lift can perform this operation.

The tower is available in two sizes.  They are:

Standard high tower - Max Lift - 108-1/2"
  - Min. clearance - 131-1/2"

Optional low tower - Max Lift - 69-1/2"
  - Min. clearance - 92-1/2"

Another optional feature is the reverse drive kit. When installed, this kit enables the driver to face the lifting operation by providing a seat on the cowl. The kit also includes the attachments and extension bars enabling the operator to control the lift, steer, shift gears, accelerate and brake from this position.
