A COMPLETELY NEW UNIVERSAL 'JEEP' - THE CJ-5



This is a wider 'Jeep', longer 'Jeep', and roomier 'Jeep'. It's a better looking vehicle all around. It can carry more passengers providing softer, more comfortable seats in front and rear. Easier riding front and rear suspension provides greater stability on the roads, more comfort and even longer life for the vehicle. The same 75 HP Hurricane Engine that powered the CJ-5's predecessors drives this latest model. And like its predecessors, it will carry personnel, move machinery, dig trenches, shunt railroad cars, mow grass, work as a wrecker, fight fires, snake logs, pull mine cars, transport materials, load airplanes, drill wells, and power pneumatic tools. NEW FEATURES Extra sturdiness. Newly designed fenders, hood, and body are of heavy gauge sheet metal, flanged and overlapped for added strength. The new body design not only creates a pleasing appearance, but offers tremendous resistance to damage. New extra-strength frame of channel girder construction. A new, fully boxed front cross-member has been added to further increase the rigidity, carrying strength and rugged endurance of the Universal 'Jeep' frame. New, larger windshield. Both types of windshields, the stationary type and the ventilating type, have been increased considerably. The stationary type on the C J-5 has been increased 92 square inches. The total glass area now measures over 682 square inches. The ventilating type of windshield on the new C J-5 has been increased over 77 square inches. It now measures over 607 square inches. New, built -in defrosting chamber helps keep glass clear. New, easier-riding springs - both front and rear - are 4 inches longer for greater comfort. A low deflection rate but high total spring capacity, provides smoother riding, excellent stability, and longer life. New, softer front bucket seats are form fitting with coil springing for a surprisingly comfortable ride. The new covering is attractive, long wearing, and waterproof. The driver's seat is adjustable to three positions fore and aft. A double and single front seating arrangement for driver and two passengers is available at extra cost.
	New type rear seating -- provides options for carrying four passengers on wheelhouse seat pads. New instrument panel is deeper, with back-lighted, easy-to-read instrument cluster located in full view of driver. New, passenger-car type handbrake with better grip for more positive locking of brakes is conveniently located beneath panel at left of driver.

New all-weather top, sturdy and snug fitting, with sidewalls that fasten on the inside and are flush with the - Universal ' Jeep' body all the way around. The improved door handle is positive latching and easier to operate. A great new feature of the top assembly is the provision of stowage straps for the doors above the front seats. There are also less bolts to be encountered in the installation.

As a Tractor the CJ-5 Universal 'Jeep' has a drawbar pull of over 2317 pounds. When equipped with the optional Hydraulic Lift it can draw practically all of the conventional types of farm equipment. As a mobile source of power it can energize generators, welders, winches and many other powered auxiliary equipment. It's powerful. The CJ-5 Universal 'Jeep's power comes from a combination of the 75 HP "F" head Hurricane engine, its low curb weight, and its four-wheel drive traction with 12 gear combinations to suit the road and load. This 'Jeep' will take its payload up a 60% incline. Also to be considered are its three power take-off points that mean the CJ-5 Universal ' Jeep1 can perform a host of other jobs that make the ' Jeep' unique when compared with conventional vehicles.
